FOOTNOTES: The legacy of shoe and accessory designer Roger Vivier is the subject of a new book out next month. The volume spans the brand’s creations from the Thirties onward, including Vivier’s invention of the stiletto heel for Dior in 1955 and the buckle pump made famous by Catherine Deneuve in Luis Buñuel’s 1967 movie “Belle de Jour,” to current creative director Bruno Frisoni’s revival of the house.
Some 300 color photos, as well as sketches by Vivier and Frisoni, figure alongside photographed conversations between brand ambassador Inès de la Fressange and Deneuve, plus Frisoni and actress Cate Blanchett. Simply titled “Roger Vivier,” the tome, edited by Rizzoli New York, is to launch in leading booksellers and in the brand’s 14 boutiques worldwide in early April.
To celebrate the launch, Roger Vivier and Rizzoli are to hold a preview event at Vivier’s Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré store in Paris on Monday, hosted by Frisoni and de la Fressange.
