Mother of Pearl RTW Spring 2015

The brand's spring collection was peppy and infused with sporty panache.

Mother of Pearl’s spring collection was peppy and infused with sporty panache. The inspiration? “The stage costumes of Sixties singer Sandy Shaw meets kitchen-sink drama [a type of play featuring working-class characters popular in Britain in the Sixties],” said creative director, Amy Powney. Key looks included cropped, pleat-front pants-and-top combos in waffle jacquard — often sprinkled with plastic embellishments — and a charming tiered tent dress in the same fabric. Matching cropped tops and three-quarter length skirts, in a lovely print of blue roses that was created by Chris Moon, this season’s collaborating artist, were also standouts.

Outerwear highlights included a wool-cashmere sports coat in baby-blue gingham and a hooded parka in shell-pink cady featuring a plastic chevron.
