Belstaff RTW Spring 2015

Designed by the in-house team, the collection was packed with Sixties-inspired silhouettes and lots of leather and suede.

Belstaff is broadening its offer — and softening up — as it grows from a label best known for motorcycle jackets and performance outerwear into a full-fledged ready-to-wear and accessories brand.

This latest collection, designed by the in-house team and presented at Belstaff’s new flagship on New Bond Street, was packed with Sixties-inspired silhouettes and lots of leather and suede. Among the highlights was a mustard-colored suede coat with fringing at the back, a dark-green suede biker jacket, also with fringe, and a snappy leather miniskirt with a diagonal zip at the front.

Details, such as thin strips of black rubber tape on khaki cotton trenches and a buckle at the neck of a slim, sexy car coat, nodded to the brand’s heritage in performance sportswear but were never heavy-handed.
The design team also took an ultrafeminine turn in the form of silk blouses, which had subtle snap-and-strap details around the collar, and a paisley silk skirt, the pattern of which was derived from a biker’s vintage bandana.
