A.L.C. RTW Spring 2015

Andrea Lieberman’s evoked the sexiness of an Italian bombshell for the spring show.

There’s an easy nonchalance to Andrea Lieberman’s collections for A.L.C. — and a dose of boyish cool. But for spring, she went in a different direction: “I started thinking about old Italian films and the women in them. I wanted something more feminine, with a little more volume,” she said. “Those women are beautiful but they’re also strong, and that was a big thing for us.”

Lieberman evoked the sexiness of an Italian bombshell via bras and cropped tops done in knit and Neoprene, which she paired with floaty silk skirts and boardshorts. She also upped the print factor for spring: a series of black-and-white-based floral prints were perfectly suited to a woman who wants to wear floral without feeling too girly, while lip and “happy pill” motifs added a touch of playfulness.

Cutouts were a theme this season — on jumpsuits and a particularly fetching black-and-white striped dress — and she also experimented with fluorescent colors such as hot pink and lime green in mix-and-match separates. “Our goal is to make clothes that people really want to wear,” she said. It was a vast collection with lots of ideas, and Lieberman delivered them with panache.
