PLEASE DON’T STOP THE MUSIC: The music crowd was out in force on Monday for the Saint Laurent women’s ready-to-wear show in Paris. Established artists like Lenny Kravitz and Daft Punk were joined by a gaggle of rising Los Angeles musicians singled out by the label’s creative director Hedi Slimane.
After arriving with Salma Hayek and Kering boss François-Henri Pinault, Kravitz kissed fellow guest Valérie Trierweiler, the partner of French President François Hollande, on the cheeks. The multitasker will be reprising his role as Cinna in “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire,” set for release in November.
Last week, he released a digitally remastered and expanded version of “Are You Gonna Go My Way” to mark the album’s 20th anniversary, and is now working on fresh material. “The new album is coming out in the spring,” Kravitz said.
Clementine Creevy noted her band Cherry Glazerr’s song “Trick or Treat Dancefloor” recently featured in two videos Slimane directed to promote a new line of classic ballet pumps. The band will release its debut album “Haxel Princess” in November. “It’s just a state of being. It’s like feeling in love,” Creevy said of the title.
Californian singer and songwriter Miguel, sporting a biker jacket that sprouted monkey hair, said he was working on the next installments of his “Art Dealer Chic” series of EPs and preparing to tour the United States.
“We live in such a visual time, it’s hard not to pay so much attention to aesthetics, so fashion is kind of that very first handshake, if you will,” he remarked. “You have to think on different planes, not only for music, but for every medium, and you have to be considerate of all the different levels of communication.”
Pixie Geldof came with her beau, These New Puritans drummer George Barnett, and revealed she was also dabbling in music, though keeping the results private for now. “I play guitar and I’m learning lap steel, but it’s not going great. It’s an instrument they use in country music. It’s really cool, but it’s really hard to play,” she said.
