Front Row at Stella McCartney

Jeff Koons, Paul McCartney and Salma Hayek were among the front-row guests.

POP ART: Is Lady Gaga the new Michael Jackson? Jeff Koons certainly thinks so. The American artist, who immortalized the King of Pop and his chimp Bubbles in a 1988 porcelain sculpture, has made a sculpture of Lady Gaga for the cover of her album “Artpop.” “She touches people and is able to bring awe and wonder into their lives in a very similar way as Michael,” Koons said at Stella McCartney’s show Monday. “She’s really creative and transcending in her art, so it’s been a real pleasure.”

The artist, who is gearing up for a retrospective at the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York in 2014, said he hoped to reach a new audience thanks to the album cover. “It does bring my work into contact with people that otherwise may not be so in touch with the fine arts, so it’s fantastic,” he said.

Also in the front row were Paul McCartney and his wife Nancy Shevell, Salma Hayek and François-Henri Pinault, Sharleen Spiteri, Elettra Wiedemann, Natalia Vodianova, Blanca Li, Mélanie Thierry, Ludivine Sagnier, Twiggy and former Bond Girl Barbara Bach, who is married to ex-Beatle Ringo Starr.

Angie Harmon
, who began her career as a model, said she came to Paris for a change of scenery following the suicide last month of Lee Thompson Young, her friend and costar on TNT drama “Rizzoli & Isles.”

“Not to bring light to that, but I found that when I finished this season, I had nothing left,” she said. “I had to put some beauty and some culture back in the reserve tanks, and what better place to do it than Paris and fashion week? It really has been rejuvenating, and I feel like I’ve sort of come back to my roots.”

Christine Baranski was on a mini-break from the U.K. shoot for “Into the Woods,” the Disney fantasy film starring Meryl Streep and Johnny Depp, and made a last-minute decision to attend the 10 a.m. show with her friend, composer Claire van Kampen.

“When you’re an actress, you’re always getting into hair and makeup at about 7 a.m., so it was like, ‘Oh, here I go again.’ I didn’t expect to do that, but I’ve never been to a Paris fashion show, so this is fun,” she said.

Japanese actress Rila Fukushima sported a yellow version of the oversize plastic “goggle eye” ring that came attached to McCartney’s show invitation. “I kind of expected to see people wearing them, but I think I was pretty much the only one,” she shrugged.

The “Wolverine” star is filming a prime-time historic series known as taiga drama for Japanese TV channel NHK General. The yearlong show will center around Kanbei Kuroda, a 15th-century Japanese territorial lord and commander of a samurai army. “This month, I was wearing a kimono all the time,” Fukushima said.
