IT’S GONNA BE BIG: Badgley Mischka had a stylish second row, thanks to the designers’ relatives who flew in for Mark Badgley and James Mischka’s silver anniversary. Mischka’s father Carl said, “The time from their first show down in the East Village to today has been quite a journey.” His younger son, Jeff, and Jeff’s wife, Cynthia, were also in the house, as were Badgley’s twin sister, O’Hara Fottrell, and her daughter Honor, a first-timer to the fashion show scene. Her mother, on the other hand, knows the ins and outs, having handled sales, trunk shows and celebrity dressing for Badgley Mischka in the early Nineties. As for what keeps the two designers on such an even keel, she said, “They’re a lot alike, which can be good or bad. And I have never met two people who are kinder to each other.”
Her pal Noelle Beck also knows the designers from way back when. She, too, was at their first show. When they made their debut at Barneys New York, she bought a dress, but at their request had to give it back. “They had a client who wanted to buy one and they had only made so many,” Beck explained.
An actress on “The Carrie Diaries,” Beck played the first “Mrs. Big” on “Sex and the City.” “I guess I’ve kind of come full circle,” she said. “I loved working in the Eighties — big hair and shoulder pads.”
While Honor Fottrell is a high school sophomore, she would like to get schooled in fashion, too, as an intern for her uncle.
Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week has a new front row addition this season. An explosive-sniffing dog, with a red collar, was spotted at the Badgley Mischka show roaming the aisles prior to the show. One of the guards at the tents said this was the first time that they’ve had a dog for this purpose, working the shows.
“This is Shea’s first season of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week and she loves spotting the newest trends from her front row seat,” confirmed an IMG spokesman.
