At the Marc Jacobs after party, held in the wood-paneled great room of the New York Yacht Club in Midtown on Monday, Kristen Wiig cut a path through the crowd of perky, young, impeccably dressed Marc Jacobs employees with Casey Spooner trailing behind.
Across the room, Fabrizio Moretti, Wiig’s boyfriend and one of three Strokes in attendance for Jacobs’ customary friends and family bash, was DJing. He had just started playing Dr. Dre’s “Nuthin’ but a G Thang” when the comedienne looked back at Spooner with a smile before giving an exaggerated shoulder roll along with the song’s familiar bass line.
It was a far cry from the scene a few hours earlier when Wiig had surveyed Jacobs’ runway show at the New York State Armory on Lexington Avenue.
“I’m really excited to be here; it’s quite a spectacle,” the actress said as a crush of photographers took pictures of her seatmate, Rose Byrne, alongside the pizza-slice shaped stage. Wiig took note of the ambient tones being piped in on the building’s P.A.
“Just focus on the music, the angelic music... and the plush carpet,” she said in a deadpan.
