IN A FLASH: J. Mendel possessed one of the hotter after party tickets in town on Wednesday night thanks to a scheduled performance by Frank Ocean, fresh off a YouTube-ready performance at the MTV Video Music Awards last week and ahead of his season opening appearance on “Saturday Night Live.” “I actually saw him when I was at the VMAs. I was in awe,” Joan Smalls said of the singer near the bar at No. 8, the spiritual successor to Bungalow 8 that opened in Chelsea this summer. Karlie Kloss, Tyson Chandler and Jerry and Jessica Seinfeld all turned out to catch Ocean’s 10 minute set. Though brief, the outing was long enough to see the house photographer from Billy Farrell Agency escorted to the door for taking Ocean’s picture while he performed, a stricture the singer’s team laid down not long before he arrived. The photographer was back inside by the time Ocean jumped into a waiting car.
