MAGIC NUMBER: M.I.A. is gearing up for 12.12.12, but not because of any superstition: The date marks the British singer’s next concert in Kochi, India. “India is having its first art Biennale, so I’m going to be opening that with a show, and then I’ve got a few dates in Australia after that,” she said at the Kenzo show in Paris on Sunday.
Anyway, as she correctly pointed out, the date does not mark the supposed Mayan apocalypse. “I think that’s 12.21.12. It’s the other way around. It’s a few days before that — people get to enjoy an M.I.A. show before the world ends.”
