CHANGING TACK: The Alexis Mabille show in Paris on Wednesday drew a gaggle of French starlets and fashion television's latest recruit, Mareva Galanter.
The Tahiti-born former Miss France, who also sings solo and with cover band Nouvelle Vague, is launching a new monthly fashion show on cable TV channel June on Oct. 12.
"It's aimed at young girls," she said, adding that the program would feature a mix of high and low fashion. "At the end of the show, we go through my look. I can't wear head-to-toe Chanel, because most people can't afford that, so we mix it up. We'll pair some H&M earrings with a designer jacket."
Actress Lilou Fogli revealed she started out as a trader, eventually dropping a promising career with luxury conglomerate LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton for a stab at movie stardom. Her background in business sometimes comes in useful. "I have a bit more remove, so I don't feel as sad when I'm rejected for a part," she laughed.
