Dolce & Gabbana Host Post-Show Fete

The designers toasted their spring-summer show with guest star Scarlett Johansson at a cocktail gathering and dinner at their Gold restaurant in Milan.

GOLD STANDARD: Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana toasted their spring-summer show with guest star Scarlett Johansson at a cocktail gathering and dinner at their Gold restaurant in Milan. Ellen von Unwerth snapped away, explaining she is collaborating with the designers on a project about film stars. “I think they don’t know exactly what they’re going to do with it, but I’m sure it will come out soon,” said the photographer, who will stage a retrospective at the Fahey/Klein Gallery in Los Angeles from Oct. 20. Paloma Faith made an entrance paved in animal-spotted satin: her gown, turban and elbow-length gloves. “I feel like the snowy leopard queen,” the British singer enthused. “I think this is the best outfit I’ve ever worn.”

Earlier, Gabbana said the designers are scaling back their obsession with social media, which saw them projecting backstage images and live tweets on the runway in previous seasons. “We are not going back, but we are retrieving the awareness of who we are,” he explained. “I will continue to tweet, but it’s not the first thing I do in the morning anymore.” Johansson said she was neither on Twitter nor Facebook. “I guess I’m just old-fashioned that way,” she shrugged. “I’ve no desire to communicate with anybody I don’t know.” The actress did reveal that she would soon cross over into directing, with an adaptation of the Truman Capote novella “Summer Crossing.” “I’ve wanted to direct since I was 12, since I watched Bob Redford direct on ‘The Horse Whisperer.’ I was like, ‘I want that job’,” she said. I was like, ‘I want that job!’,” she said. “So it’s really a dream come true.”
