DRESS REHEARSAL: Common didn’t make it to Y-3 as planned but Samuel Jackson and Dwight Howard caught every last turn. With a day off from rehearsals for “The Mountaintop,” an October-opening Broadway play with Angela Bassett, the actor was happy to take in a different scene. “Fashion has its own sort of life and army of followers. It seems like a vibrant time of year,” Jackson said.
As for how he is gearing up for his first stage appearance in 15 years, the 62-year-old actor said, “Going to rehearsal — and praying. I work out a lot and have a voice coach to work on breathing from my diaphragm. I’m a physically able guy. But this play is just me and Angela on the stage. There’s nowhere to hide.”
