Sunday night’s Tommy Hilfiger women’s show featured a suitably preppy front row save the designer’s much tattooed rapper son, Rich. Abbie Cornish, sporting a gray suit jacket, explained that she’d just arrived from the Venice Film Festival, where Madonna’s “W.E.” screened for the first time. “She’s tough, she’s very dedicated,” Cornish said of her director. “She’s very passionate. It was a story that she’d put so much work into and she knew everything about Wallace Simpson’s life. Because it’s a fictional and a nonfictional, they kind of parallel.”
Other attendees included Carmelo Anthony, Russell Simmons and Melissa George (hand in hand), Angela Simmons and Corinne Bailey Rae. Cornish’s seatmate, Malin Akerman, already had several front rows behind her. Asked for her favorite nonfashion highlight of the weekend, Akerman proved that even the Hollywood set will travel to the deep of North Brooklyn for the city’s hottest table.
“I’ve had a lot of fun with some old friends who are here in New York,” she said. “And I’ve been out in Brooklyn hanging out there… Bushwick, I think it’s called. It’s great. Roberta’s. I had a great night out there last night.”
