Front Row at Mugler Spring 2012

The entire Courtin-Clarins were out in force at the Mugler show.

OVER BITE?: "Did you love it?" asked Nicola Formichetti as the Courtin-Clarins clan, including statuesque sisters Virginie and Claire, piled backstage to congratulate him after his sophomore women’s wear show for Mugler. Christian Courtin-Clarins, chairman of Groupe Clarins, which owns the fashion label, quickly reassured him. "Sophisticated and wild," was his take on the collection. He was more circumspect about the film that opened the show, in which Lady Gaga repeatedly intoned: "Don't f--- with Mugler." It wasn't so much the swearing he objected to. "That's no longer shocking these days," said Courtin-Clarins. Rather, he was puzzled by the protruding metallic caps Gaga wore on her front teeth. "I don't think it’s pretty, but then Lady Gaga is always surprising," he said. "But I don't think prosthetic teeth are going to catch on — otherwise dentists are doomed!"
