IT TAKES TWO: At J.Mendel Wednesday, leveraged-buyout king Alec Gores invited Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, friends of his family, to share a row with him and Beth Whitson. Another Hollywood type, Selma Blair, was also in the house, taking a breather from her six-week-old son, Arthur. Her boyfriend, Jason Bleick, also skipped the outing. “I’ve slept one hour in the past five weeks,” she said. “He’s wonderful and I’m totally, totally exhausted.”

Being back on the fashion scene was an eye-opener. “It’s made me realize, ‘Right, that’s what women look like in the real world.’ ” Blair said.

Dressed to the nines in a black sequined J.Mendel dress, Blair hasn’t exactly been a homebody. She jetted off to film festivals in Venice and Toronto to walk the red carpet for her work in “Dark Horse.” Blair will also appear with James D’Arcy in “Replicas,” a thriller about a home invasion.
