VERY GOOD FRIENDS: Heavy-hitters abounded at Diane Von Furstenberg's Sunday afternoon runway show at Lincoln Center. Fran Lebowitz and Tina Brown sat together, facing Oscar de la Renta, Valentino and Giancarlo Giammetti. Brad Goreski, Ahn Duong, Poppy Delevigne, Louise Roe and Nicky Hilton were also on hand.

"I came today to support Diane, because she's my friend and because she really is the strong, beautiful and powerful woman she designs for," said de la Renta, who later received an embrace and little American flag from von Furstenberg when she took her bow. Valentino agreed: "She's an old friend...I promised her after the FIT luncheon that I would come. And she makes beautiful easygoing clothes for women. I expect the best of this show today." Were the Italian couturier's vocal chords sore after his instantly famous rendition of Frank Sinatra “My Way” the night before at Carine Roitfeld's party? "Oof, my singing, it was a joke,” he said. “And it's all anybody is talking to me about. But I'll tell you- when we were in Croatia, it's very calm and very beautiful there and I was in the boat, and I got bored so I locked myself in my room and I was singing. Singing away." Of course, de la Renta has also been known to croon more than capably on occasion, but suggestions of a duet were met only with amused glances.

As for Giammetti, he stuck to the party line. "Diane is a very, very good friend and yes that's why we're here." Another member of the press close by asked where he had summered this year. "Where did I summer? Croatia, as always," before adding to WWD, "sometimes I think I know more about holidays than fashion."
