PARIS — “They wanted some dolls,” said hairstylist Luigi Murenu of the direction designers Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren gave for the beauty look at their show.
Murenu worked models’ hair into a dry-looking, textured mass and pulled it back into a ponytail. But it wasn’t a traditional ponytail. Rather, a ribbon was tied at the end of hair strands. This was to give an accent and “just to make all this volume,” said Murenu.
He used John Frieda Frizz-Ease Curl Reviver to achieve the look.
Makeup artist Pat McGrath emphasized models’ eyes by topping them off with a layer of pink false eyelashes.
“So it’s almost like it’s a pulp version of modern dolls,” she said, adding the look also entailed perfected skin and brows. “It really is like the way that a modern doll would look today. She wouldn’t have Sixties eye makeup, she would have today’s eye makeup — which in a way touches on extreme.”
