PARIS — “We tried different things, and whenever we tried something — in hair and makeup — and the girls put the clothes on, it seemed too much,” said makeup artist Peter Philips backstage at Dries Van Noten. “So we decided to pure it down, and to really enhance the natural beauty of the girls.”
Philips curled and gave a smidgen of black mascara to models’ lashes needing a little pick-me-up. Their skin was kept natural looking, and lip color was toned down. Even nails got a matte topcoat so no shine would distract from the clothing made of fabrics chockablock with patterns.
“The only thing we added was a little bit of shine on eyelids,” said Philips.
Hairstylist Paul Hanlon created a ponytail with a side part for the show.
