Backstage at Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2012

Sexy, voluptuous women from the Fifties golden age of Italian cinema and the throaty hook of “Mambo Italiano” sung by Rosemary Clooney was behind the robust, Sicilian-inspired look for the beauty team at Dolce & Gabbana.

Redken creative consultant Guido Palau created a soft variation on the classic French twist. Redken Thickening Lotion 06 Body Builder was applied to damp hair to boost body before back-brushing hair and securing it with bobby pins into the twist. Hair was left slack around the face to highlight texture and movement and held with Redken Fashion Work 12 Versatile Working Spray.

Makeup artist Pat McGrath turned to iconic Italian actress Sophia Loren for a muse and crafted a fresh look straight from classic Italian cinema with groomed brows, black eyeliner, mascara and a nude lip.
