Guido Palau created natural, organic curls with a center part for an unkempt, hippie look.

MILAN — Edgy romanticism was the backstage inspiration for Alberta Ferretti hair. “Mrs. Ferretti loves romance, so I’m always trying to make it romantic but give it a young, modern feel,” said Guido Palau, hairstylist and Redken creative consultant.


Girls wore trailing hair extensions with a center part for an unkempt, hippie look. Redken Shine Flash 02 and Redken Forceful 23 Super Strength Finishing Spray was applied at the roots to give a firm, strong hold with hair flat against the head for a wet, shiny, glossy look. Coupled with natural, organic curls, the look was romantic with a tough edge.


Makeup artist Diane Kendal stayed light starting with MAC Cosmetics’ Studio Coverage Concealer. “We just want to make the girls look really gorgeous. We’re doing a really fresh, springlike makeup, and we want to enhance all the girls’ natural features,” she said.


MAC Pro Sculpting Powder in Sculpt was used underneath the cheekbones and swept back into the temples for contouring. Blushes Immortal Flower and Love Cloud (both available for spring 2012) were blended for a natural, warm flush. Silver Dust Iridescent Power highlighted the bridge of the nose, the bow of the lips, and the cheekbones. A subtle brown eye shadow, Fog Effect Paint Pot (available December 2011), was brushed into the crease of the eyelid. The upper lash line was defined with a flat, clean line close to the lashes with Black Track Fluid line. Lips were touched with MAC Double Spin, available December 2011.
