Karl's Film Premiere For Hogan

Janet Jackson, Stephen Dorff and Rupert Everett were at a screening to view Karl Lagerfeld's short film for Hogan.

LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION: Karl Lagerfeld’s arrival at the party Saturday night showcasing his collaboration with Italian brand Hogan was worthy of a movie premiere, but then, that’s what it was. With cameras crowded around him, Lagerfeld all but eclipsed guests including Janet Jackson, Stephen Dorff, Rupert Everett, Nick Rhodes, Elisa Sednaoui and Renzo Rosso, who sat on benches in a basement screening room to view the short film he made to showcase the one-off capsule collection.

 

“Karl is very special,” Tod’s Group chief Diego Della Valle said appreciatively. Baptiste Giabiconi, who stars opposite Magdalena Frackowiak in the “nouvelle vague” style black-and-white short, said it was not that different from regular modeling. “You're always interacting with the camera, it's just reinterpreting a role,” he noted. Still, he probably won’t be putting any of the actors present out of a job. Dorff said he was gearing up to promote his latest film, the Sofia Coppola-directed “Somewhere,” which recently won the Golden Lion top prize at the Venice Film Festival. Next year, he will change registers with the release of the 3D blockbuster “Immortals,” co-starring Mickey Rourke and Freida Pinto. “It’s kind of a swords-and-sandal flick,” he said. “I was in the gym for a while for that one. I had to look good because I didn’t have any clothes.” Everett said he’s shooting “Hysteria,” a comedy about the invention of the vibrator, opposite Maggie Gyllenhaal and Jonathan Pryce.

 

Inès de la Fressange, meanwhile, was looking forward to walking in the Chanel show on Tuesday for the first time in 21 years. “I always continued using the makeup, the perfume and especially the anti-aging creams, and now I can start wearing the clothes again. It’s funny,” she mused. Lagerfeld also booked De la Fressange, the face of Chanel in the Eighties, to appear in its spring/summer campaign, along with modeling greats from the two subsequent decades, Stella Tennant and Freja Beha Erichsen.
