Italian Vogue and Carlos Miele: Nature Lovers

The Brazilian designer and the magazine's editor-in-chief Franca Sozzani co-hosted a party to support the Rainforest Foundation US.

Caipirinhas flowed freely at the Carlos Miele store in Paris, where the Brazilian designer and Italian Vogue editor-in-chief Franca Sozzani co-hosted a party to support the Rainforest Foundation US. Miele asked Lapo Elkann and girlfriend Bianca Brandolini d’Adda to design T-shirts to raise funds for the organization, originally founded by Sting and Trudie Styler. “I was born in Brazil and I see that Brazilians don’t pay a lot of attention to the Amazon, so when Sting started this work, I supported it,” Miele said. Elkann’s design is a blend between a tree and a soccer ball. “It’s something which unites Italy and Brazil, the passion for soccer,” explained the Fiat heir, who spent part of his childhood in Rio de Janeiro. Brandolini d’Adda, whose mother is Brazilian, chose an upside down tree festooned with religious medals and crosses. “Everybody goes to Corcovado to give thanks, so I thought it was really Brazilian,” she said, referring to the giant statue of Christ in Rio de Janeiro. The shirts will retail for 30 euros, or $35, of which 10 percent goes to the foundation.
