Pierre Cardin to Host SCAD's First Fundraising Benefit

Cardin will host the Savannah College of Art and Design benefit in Paris on Oct. 8 at the Four Seasons.

CARDIN CAPERS: Pierre Cardin, who opened fashion week with a 40-minute show, is now gearing up to close out the week with another major event. In partnership with the Savannah College of Art and Design, Cardin will host SCAD’s first fundraising benefit in Paris, a gala dinner and auction to be held Oct. 8 at the Four Seasons George V. Co-chairs and honorary hosts include US Ambassador to France David T. Killion and his wife, Kristin, Marisa Berenson, James Ivory, Leslie Caron, India Hicks and Geraldine Chaplin, among others. Among the auction lots are pieces by Eileen Gray, a private dinner (and the chance to borrow jewels) in the upstairs salons of Boucheron, a private tour of Kensington Palace and a Grand Prix travel package to Monaco. China Moses is slated to perform. Funds will go toward the restoration of the historic Maison Basse farmhouse – once the stables of the Marquis de Sade – on the SCAD campus in Lacoste, in Provence; Cardin owns the Marquis’ onetime residence, the chateau of Lacoste, which he saved from ruin, renovated and reopened two years ago.
