Cynthia Rowley's Lavish Sets

Cynthia Rowley borrowed sets from Peter Martins' “Romeo + Juliet” and “Swan Lake” productions at the New York City Ballet for her runway show this weekend.

Cynthia Rowley didn’t look too far for her runway props. Rowley, whose show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Lincoln Center is Saturday, borrowed sets from Peter Martins’ “Romeo + Juliet” and “Swan Lake” productions at the New York City Ballet. The lavish backdrops were the brainchild of Danish painter Per Kirkeby, and taken from the New York City Ballet’s archives for the occasion. “For the first fashion week at Lincoln Center, I thought it is important to recognize the history of the site and the legacy of the performances that have happened there,” Rowley said. “I’m unbelievably grateful that the New York City Ballet was gracious enough to lend us pieces from their archives.”
