Front Row at Chloé and Vanessa Bruno

A Gallic tun-out at french fashion houses Chloé and Vanessa Bruno.

EAT, PRAY, LOVE: Casting directors searching for a French ingénue need look no further than the front rows of Chloé and Vanessa Bruno. One Gallic actress in particular is about to hit the big time: Astrid Bergès-Frisbey has been cast as Syrena, an alluring mermaid, in “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.” “We are shooting right now,” she confided at Chloé. So, does she get to kiss Johnny Depp? “That, I’m not telling!” she demurred.

Anaïs Demoustier will star opposite Juliette Binoche as a student who turns to prostitution in “Sponsoring,” by Polish director Malgorzata Szumowska, and Laura Smet is gearing up to take the lead in Tonie Marshall’s “Noces de Cristal,” co-starring Gérard Depardieu and Isabelle Huppert. “They have asked me to put on a bit of weight, so I’m trying to eat. It’s not easy,” she sighed. “I am trying fruit, like having a banana before bedtime.” Lou Lesage is taking a break from acting to focus on the release next March of her debut album, written by her dad, Ultra Orange singer Pierre Emery, who previously collaborated with Emmanuelle Seigner. “It’s very rock, very Blondie, Nancy Sinatra,” she said.

Alexa Chung, sporting fingernails painted with tiny Smiley faces, said she will replace Zane Lowe as presenter of the weekly music show “Gonzo” on MTV Rocks from Oct. 15. “It’s quite low-fi, as in: There’s no budget. It’s really good, it’s like Wayne’s World!” she quipped.

At Vanessa Bruno, Lou Doillon – the designer’s muse – was joined by Sandrine Kiberlain, Judith Godrèche and Frédérique Bel. No need to play six degrees of separation here: It turns out the latter two will appear in Emmanuel Mouret’s “L’art d’aimer.” Godrèche hinted that her character had a very particular understanding of philanthropy. “She’s a young woman from a fairly well-off background who dreams of helping others, who wants to give herself to others to make them feel better,” she said with a wink.
