Tilda Swinton for Pringle of Scotland

HIGHLAND HONEY: “We’re brothers from different mothers – I feel psychically connected to Tilda,” said the photographer Ryan McGinley of Tilda Swinton, whom he shot for Pringle’s spring ad campaign - and who starred in a short film for the brand.

McGinley shot the clip near Swinton’s home in Nairn, in the Scottish Highlands, and it follows the Anglo-Scottish actress as she pads along the beach, runs through the woods, and winches herself through an arrow slit window in the ruins of Duffus Castle. “I live 15 minutes away from there, but I think it was the first time I ever crawled through that window!” Swinton said during an interview before the show Monday night.

McGinley said the film was meant to express a “journey through landscapes" - a concept related to his nature-inspired show on at the Alison Jacques Gallery in London’s Soho until October 8.

Both the film and the ad campaign were shot two weeks ago. “Scotland at the height of the summer actually looks like the Bahamas,” said Swinton with a wry smile.

The two will be collaborating once again for the fall season – and sources say they’ll be shooting on a private island in Scotland – although no one’s giving any details.

At a dinner after the Pringle show, guests including Daisy de Villeneuve, Jasmine Guinness, Erin O’Connor, John Waters, Juergen Teller, Mark Ronson and Virginia Bates had a full-on Scottish culinary tour. “Fish, fowl and four-legged,” said Pringle chief executive Mary-Adair Macaire, referring to the venison, smoked salmon and grouse that had been flown in from Scotland.

Guinness, gazing straight at her giant glass of red wine, said: “I can see my future, I can see my hangover,” while de Villeneuve, an illustrator whose billboard campaign for the Women’s San Francisco Marathon is about to break, described her outfit: “It’s Felder Felder. Leather and studs – not very Pringle.”
