Dsquared2 Spring RTW
Leave it to Dan and Dean Caten to inject a little Studio 54 sizzle in a rather quiet Milan season. And the duo couldn’t have picked a more perfect muse — make that three — for spring’s sexy romp: Charlie’s Angels. So, of course, there was the requisite announcer bit, the statement-making supermodel trio (Esther Cañadas, Fernanda Tavares and Nadege du Bospertus) that opened and closed the show as well as a lineup utterly rife with Seventies nostalgia. But surprisingly, the duo controlled the T&A TV display that could have been, and nicely delivered on terrific tailored sportswear and denim: crisp button-downs, trim jackets and the perfect stovepipe jeans. The collection included nods to other stylish Seventies chicks as well, Veruschka on safari and Bianca Jagger in smoldering suit looks. Add a handful of drape-y white goddess gowns and, voilà, you’ve also got a collection with the glam undertones of Tom Ford at Gucci. That is, except for the two strange sack dresses — what were those about?
