Ben tornata, Rebecca Moses. After a six-year hiatus, the designer is back and she’s now helming the new women’s wear line by 55-year-old menswear label Bilancioni. And her new cause? “Clamor for Glamour.” But it’s not a “platinum blonde” red carpet, pop tart allure she’s channeling. “Real glamour is not pretentious; it’s nonchalant,” Moses notes. “It’s dipsy, fun and charming.” Thus, her girl’s not going to shy away from pairing a roomy sweater over a taffeta ballgown skirt or toss on shorts with a rosette-embroidered top for a “coquettish” evening out. Also in her wardrobe: chic tennis sportif and beach looks — because a girl can’t live on cocktails alone — as seen in easy one-shouldered tops, a boyfriend-cut “country club” cardigan and swimwear printed with tiny childlike figures.
Moses says she is taking a very precious approach to luxury in the collection since Bilancioni has the ability to make everything in-house. “They have specialists who do both knits and wovens, and they are true Italian artisans,” she adds. Wholesale prices range from $150 to $900.
Fab accessories, including dramatic cuffs, hats and neckwear, round out this debut collection, held in a showroom charmingly bedecked with lifestyle vignettes and Moses’ own quirky illustrations on the wall.
