Pollini RTW Spring 2009
Now that Jonathan Saunders has replaced Rifat Ozbek at Pollini, the ethnic flourishes have been replaced by a youthful, festive and more polished style.
Saunders channeled joie de vivre via colorful prints, especially graphic patchworks featuring circles and dots of varying sizes. He injected bounce into his shapes with fit-and-flare silhouettes in frisky dresses, often tiered and ruffled, and for the many blouse-and-skirt combos. The few tailored pieces spotlighted peplum jackets in wool sharkskin paired with short skirts. It all made for a promising start of pretty clothes with plenty of commercial appeal.
