Elie Tahari’s gone on vacation, and it’s an exotic retreat. Between the large-scale tropical and animal prints — leopard, meow — there was plenty of sizzle to heat up the poolside Seventies vibe, epitomized by a silk zebra-print jumpsuit and lots of bohemian bijou. The retro action didn’t stop there. Consider the high-waisted floral briefs, which, when paired with a tailored jacket, seemed to sum up where Tahari’s been (office basics) and where he wants to go (trends!). For spring, he went there, particularly in terms of pants; his version of the harem features a drawstring ankle. And with eyes adjusting to the past few seasons of big prints and bold pants, Tahari’s customer is likely ready to follow.
