C'N'C Costume National RTW Spring 2009
In his show notes Ennio Capasa referenced “x-ray specs,” to imply that viewing at his collection would be like looking through a pair. In other words, transparency was going to be this season’s very obvious anchor — and, boy, did he do sheer. Capasa layered on the looks, so black bodysuits, bandeau bras and tanks would show up quite graphically under translucent white dresses and shirts. Jackets came deconstructed, with sheer panels and cutouts, and seams were left exposed. The motif turned sporty at times, as in perforated-mesh athletics, and for a brief spell, rather pretty — the gray lace skinny pant, for example. But in the end it was all too much — even the models’ heels were Lucite.
