Carmen Marc Valvo RTW Spring 2009
Simple geometry guided Carmen Marc Valvo’s spring outing, in which he heralded the square. It wasn’t the proverbial hip, but a sophisticated take on Valvo’s signature ladylike cocktail and evening mix. He wove the motif throughout with a basketweave construction that appeared on dresses, tops and swimwear. Some of the most interesting looks had a hard, structured edge via patent leather and lace, and gave way to soft organzas and languid jerseys that were pretty, if not exactly new. And while staying within the linear lines made for a unifying theme, it wore thin at times
