There's nothing wrong with trying something new, particularly when your point of view is as enduring as Alberta Ferretti’s romantic draping. Her usual notions were still very much in play – delicate silk dresses and some nice sporty takes on chiffon -- but Ferretti branched out with a major fringe factor. It was great for the flirty flappers she sent out, one dress fringed on top and lavishly embroidered on the bottom. But a little goes a long way, and Ferretti added it on so much, tasseling draped gowns and tiering dresses top to bottom in fringe, that by show’s end the motif was strung out.
