A Little Lift at Vivienne Tam

At the Vivienne Tam show Tuesday evening, hair and makeup were understated, but polished.
Explaining the muted beauty approach, makeup artist Polly Osmond for MAC Cosmetics said, “There are a lot of colors in the clothes and we didn’t want the look to clash.”
She began by gently pressing brown cream eye shadow onto the eyelids, followed by a dusting of bronze powder. She then highlighted the bridge of the nose, around the eyes and the tops of the cheeks with a multicolored shimmer compact, which will be available in three shades for redheads, brunettes and blondes. To offset the shimmer, Osmond used a heavier foundation on the face with a matte finish. Lips were pale pink with a glossy finish.
Hairstylist Kevin Mancuso for Nexxus nodded to the Seventies and Eighties, just slightly, with a middle part and lifted bun style. “The inspiration is the Seventies and Eighties when all hair for couture was very strict,” Mancuso said, adding that in those decades, hair was nearly always pulled tight to the scalp.
Referring to the style he created for Vivienne Tam, he said, “It’s lifted to show off the neckline, and it’s more planned than the messy buns seen in past seasons. The front of the hair is very structured.”
He began by working Root Exxtend and 360 Volume into dry hair to create a “pliable base.” He gathered the middle section into a ponytail at the middle of the head, and then twisted the sides into a bun.
