Updos and Smoky Eyes at Versace
“I don’t know how modern it looks when it’s down,” said Palau.
So, Palau pulled the hair back into a center-parted, low ponytail and added a long extension the same color as the models’ hair. He then wrapped a piece of hair around the base of the ponytail, spritzing it with Redken’s Iron Silk 07, a heat protecting spray due out in November, and straightening it with a hot iron.
“It’s all about quality and richness,” said Palau. “When you are doing a simple look, you have to perfect it to make it look more extreme.”
Pat McGrath paired the ponytail with a “very glamorous, high luxury face.” To wit, McGrath did a smoky eye by using a brown base and adding gold and pink shimmer highlights on the eyebrows and in the corners of the eye, to which she added a brown liner and mascara.
A pretty pink blush went high on the cheekbone, and translucent lip gloss was used for the pout. “This version of the smoky eye is done lighter, it’s blended out rather than being sooty,” said McGrath.
