Duffy, who was working with L’Oréal Professionnel Tecni.art, wove fabric into hairstyles backstage at PPQ.
The hairstylist created tight buns, which were covered with swatches of material, worn high on models’ heads. “I wanted to keep hair quite simple,” he said, adding inspiration for the look was derived from PPQ’s London roots and the city’s cultural diversity. “The top bun almost looks like it could have religious significance.”
Stylists worked Tecni.art Constructor through hair and while drying created a high ponytail using a stiff bristled brush. Hair was then brushed out and sprayed with Tecni.art Fix Design before being wound into a tight bun, which was covered by a fabric swatch. The entire coif was then blow-dried once more to break the shape slightly before being sprayed with Infinium hair spray.
“I wanted it to look effortless,” said Duffy. “Not like a ballerina.”
The hairstyle was teamed with a fresh-faced makeup look conceived by Athena Skouvakis of Collection 2000.
“It’s a very fresh face, very beautiful — but it’s tough, it’s got attitude,” she said, adding eyebrows were the main focus of the look. “Eyebrows bring toughness.”
Faces were given a fresh dewy glow using Smoothly Radiant foundation and a hint of Perfecting Minerals Powder. Skouvakis used Shimmer & Shade powder in Just Peachy to subtly highlight cheekbones and give a hint of color to eyelids, and used Eyebrow Definer to elongate and fill in eyebrows. Lip tint in Cheek of It gave pouts just a hint of color.
