Backstage was more than a little steamy at Paul Smith Monday.
“It’s hamam chic,” said hairstylist Peter Gray, of the wet-look coif he created for the show. “It looks like the models have just stepped out of a spa. It looks hot and sweaty but with conditioned, clean and glowing hair.”
Gray, who was working with L’Oréal Professionnel Tecni.art, combined Tecni.art Liss Control and Hydra Repair to give center-parted wet hair a conditioning boost and a damp appearance. He used clear thread to cinch hair at the neck to create a shapely silhouette.
Makeup artist Petros Petrohilos also aimed to make models look a little hot under the collar.
“The skin looks almost wet,” he said, adding he used a mix of oils and Nars The Multiple in Copacabana and South Beach to give skin a moist glow. “It’s dewy and wet and the eyes have some smokiness.”
After prepping skin, Petrohilos swiped Shu Uemura eye shadow in a taupe hue over lids and used black kohl pencil on lash lines. Before models hit the runway, he massaged a little Uriage moisturizer into faces to accentuate the overall wet look.
