“My reference is a bit Seventies, a little Halston,” said hairstylist Paul Hanlon, who was working backstage at Ossie Clark with L’Oréal Professionnel Tecni.art. “A girl like Jerry Hall, but not so Eighties.”
To achieve the look, he worked Tecni.art Texture Spray into models’ center-parted hair before braiding it into numerous small plaits, which were then pressed with straightening irons. After being left to cool, hair was released from the braids and raked through to give a fluffy soft texture, according to Hanlon.
“It’s very David Hamilton and Picnic at Hanging Rock,” he said, adding a band of silk fabric was then attached askew to the hair to give the impression it had slipped off the head. “It’s very deconstructed.”
The look was finished with Infinium hairspray for hold.
Makeup, meanwhile, had a chic bohemian bent.
“It’s supersoft and sensual with a nod to the Seventies,” said MAC Cosmetics makeup artist Sam Bryant. “She’s a gorgeous girl with lots of money who doesn’t need to wear makeup.”
To wit, Bryant used Mineralize SatinFinish foundation to create a dewy complexion and highlighted cheekbones using Cream Color Base in Shell and Paint Point in Groundwork. A wash of sandy gold across lids was achieved using Paint in Magrittes, while a Technakohl Liner in Earthline was used on the lower lids. Lips were coated with lipstick in Plastique, which was then removed to leave just a hint of color.
