Hepburn Glamour at Michael Kors

“This is the first time in 27 years I’ve done a red lip for a show,” said Michael Kors, observing makeup artist Dick Page’s handiwork Wednesday morning.
So why the switch?
“The collection is a little more graphic and neutral [than past seasons] so I wanted to make sure the girls looked feminine,” Kors explained. “I got inspired by this fabulous Fifties picture of Katharine Hepburn — she looked both glam and sporty.”
Page, working at the show for Shiseido, used his own creations — Shiseido the Makeup Smoothing Lip Pencil in Siren and Perfect Rouge Lipstick in Dragon, both set for a February 2009 launch — to translate Kors’ lip vision, adding a pop of clear gloss to make lips look wet before models hit the runway.
In keeping with Kors’ sporty looks, Orlando Pita, working for T3 at the show, created a sleek ponytail. Pita blew the hair dry with T3’s Plump, then pulled hair back tight, without parting it. Next, he added extensions to each model’s hair, cutting blunt edges “for more of a graphic finish,” said Pita. He wrapped a section of hair around the ponytail elastics for a flawless finish.
