Hair and makeup took a natural turn at Julien Macdonald Monday.
“Our brief was natural — truly natural, like they’d literally just stepped out of the shower,” said Samantha Hillerby, who was working with L’Oréal Paris at the show.
Taking those instructions into account, Hillerby washed models’ hair using shampoos and conditioners from the Elvive line, including Nutri-Gloss. In some cases, she used Nutri-Gloss leave-in conditioner. A little serum was worked into the ends before hair was dried using a diffuser to accentuate its natural texture. Very straight hair was secured into buns, which were later unraveled, to create gentle movement. Hair was brushed back from the face and tucked behind ears.
“It’s almost like Helmut Lang,” Hillerby said. “It’s about looking cool, young, fresh and modern.”
“We’re doing a really natural look,” echoed makeup artist James Kaliardos, who also was working with L’Oréal Paris. “It’s the way a girl would do her own makeup.”
Kaliardos used True Match mineral foundation to create a fresh complexion and used Glow Minerals illuminator on cheekbones and on the nose. On eyelids, he used Color Appeal in Desert Shimmer and Beige Crystal, as well as Pearly White to bring light to the corners of the eyes. Lash roots were coated with Extra Volume Collagene Mascara and lips with Infallible Lip Duo in Always Toasted.
