Dolce Gets Into the Act
Domenico Dolce could have been confused as a hairstylist backstage at the Dolce & Gabbana show on Thursday. The designer, one half of the Milan-based duo, carefully pinned individual, sequined and beribboned hair accessories to the models’ heads, completing the look for next summer’s theme of Baroque pajama.
Prior to Dolce’s handiwork, hairstylist Eugene Souleiman had rolled and pinned the hair, with a side part in a “form that is like the inside of a shell or figure of an eight.”
To match the hair with her version of bedroom eyes, Pat McGrath interpreted the makeup look in a soft, romantic light. Shades of brown were blended on the eye and then topped with a brown pencil liner extended out into a wing, with false eyelashes and sweeps of mascara.
McGrath added a silver shimmer powder in the corner of the eyes, on the cheekbone — and a dusting on the cupid’s bow.
“It’s stunning,” said McGrath of the look, “it’s a new natural smoky eye that’s really softened down because of the color we are using.”
