Innocence is bliss — even when it comes to beauty. At least, that’s what makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury and hairstylist Eugene Souleiman were espousing at DKNY Sunday morning.
“The look here is very fresh and youthful with a slight edge,” said Tilbury, working with MAC Cosmetics for the show. Tilbury used concealer and a bit of powder on the T-zone for a monochromatic backdrop, then turned her attention to the eyebrow area. “It’s a very thick, luscious brow, reminiscent of Brooke Shields in the Eighties,” she said of the look, which she achieved with a MAC eyebrow pencil keyed to the models’ brow colors. “Brows are the pillar of the face — I think we’re going to see a strong comeback for a very defined brow.” Lashes were curled, then brushed with chocolate-hued mascara. A wash of taupey-chocolate eye shadow on the lids, a hint of MAC’s Cherche cream blush on cheeks and MAC Lip Conditioner on the lips finished the look.
Souleiman, working with Bumble and bumble for the show, blew hair straight with a round boar-bristle brush, then used a flatiron from root to tip. “Hair is very flat with slight texture,” he said. To get the texture he was after, Souleiman used only a spritz of Bumble and bumble Surf Spray right before the models dressed, then allowed the clothes to tousle the hair slightly. “Hair is less precious and less glam this season,” he said.
