Actress Veruschka von Lehndorff served as inspiration for the beauty look at the Diane von Furstenberg show on Sunday.
Makeup artist Gucci Westman, who Revlon Inc. signed as global artistic director in April, said, “I’m doing a bit of a Veruschka, Diane von Furstenberg woman, that kind of Ursula Andress, Barbarella [woman], but a modern version.
“Diane, in certain periods of her life — in the Sixties — used to wear white lipstick,” she added. “So I was like, ‘Cool, let’s do it.’”
To re-create that look on the lips, Westman applied a lustrous, light pink lip color, and added white eyeliner. She topped off the lips with a cream-colored eye shadow for a powdery look.
Eyes were smoky and shimmery, with “lots of black mascara” and eyeliner, noted Westman, who gave cheeks a matte peach finish.
“It’s very natural and fresh looking,” hairstylist Orlando Pita, who was playing off of the Veruschka inspiration, said of the hair look at Diane von Furstenberg. He referred to photos of the actress, specifically ones where she is “very made up with a natural, bohemian kind of hair.”
“We’re just wetting the girls’ hair with water and scrunching it with a blow-dryer,” he said of the wavy down-dos, many of which featured headbands embellished with dangling feathers, flowers and leaves.
