Cynthia Rowley: Sophisticated Shine

Hairstylist Nathaniel Hawkins from TRESemmé said that Cynthia Rowley was after something that had equestrian elements. To create the look, he pulled the hair back in a tight, low ponytail with the hair tucked under, but with pieces of hair popping out. He wrapped the hair with Cynthia Rowley ribbon, resembling something similar to what they do to a horse’s tail.

“We decided to wrap the hair in ribbon since so many pieces incorporate ribbon in the clothes,” said Hawkins. He massaged the tucked-under piece of hair with TRESemmé’s Heat Tamer Spray to help bring out the natural texture and increase the movement. Instead of using a dab of the Secrete Smoothing Crème as a finishing cream on fly-aways, he used a large amount of the product to help pull the hair back and give it a gloss.

Bobbi Brown, whose company sponsored the makeup, wanted to have a textured look that reflected the layers in the fabrics found in Rowley’s designs. Brown was after a sporty clean face with a wet eyelid. On the lips, she blended matte peach and orange shades on the lip.

“We wanted that look as if we just got out of a swimming pool,” said Brown. On the eyes, she used Glacier lip gloss from the Spring Lights Collection and Cotton Candy Water Color Cheek Tint on the cheeks.
