Herrera Beauty Does The Twist
Carolina Herrera’s polished beauties were in a twist backstage — well, at least their hair was.
To complement the designer’s gowns, Orlando Pita, working for T3 at the show, created a slightly off-center part, then placed bobby pins about three inches down from the hairline all the way around the head. Pita then twisted hair upward and in, attaching it invisibly to the existing bobby pins, creating an elegant rolled updo.
Diane Kendal, working for MAC Cosmetics at the show, was inspired by the contrast of black and white in Herrera’s spring-summer 2009 show. “The eye is the focus,” said Kendal as she deftly created a smoky eye with a black eyeliner.
Next, Kendal brushed and filled in eyebrows, added a hint of pink blush and nude lipgloss. The skin was kept nude.
Wanda Ruiz, working with CND, finished the look with sleek manicures using the brand’s Creme Brulee nail polish.
