Going for Grunge at Ashish

"It's a matted, grungy texture," said stylist James Rowe.

“It’s a matted, grungy texture,” said stylist James Rowe, who was working backstage with Bumble and bumble at Ashish Friday. “I also wanted hair to be quite light.”

Rowe used Bumble and bumble Prep and Thickening Spray on center-parted dry hair, which was then twisted into numerous ropelike sections and allowed to dry. The braids were later unraveled and combed through with fingers. Rowe also used Surf Spray to create texture and finished the look with Classic Hairspray.

Makeup artist Georgina Graham, who was working with MAC Cosmetics, dreamed up a dramatic eye for the show. “It’s a very round, blown-out smoky eye,” she said.

Graham prepared the skin with MAC Oil Control Lotion and applied Face and Body where needed. She used Fluidline in Blacktrack and Eye Shadow in Carbon to create a dark round eye, as well as Eye Kohl in Smolder along lash lines and mascara on top and bottom lashes.

Peepers were finished with Lipglass on top and bottom lash lines and vertically through the center of eyelids. She also used Select Cover-Up to mask blemishes and to tone down lips.
