GOING PLACES: Giorgio Armani’s celebrity guests went straight from his Armani Privé couture show Tuesday night to a party celebrating the opening of his new women’s store on Avenue Montaigne. Hilary Swank, Uma Thurman, Livia Firth and the Brant brothers were among those thronging the boutique.
“This is insane,” exclaimed Swank as she followed Thurman through the crowd to the back of the sprawling shop, where the eveningwear was on display. In the shoe salon, British “It” girl Mary Charteris sat chatting with budding model Amber Le Bon.
Near a window, Claudia Cardinale held court. The Armani devotee has no fewer than four movies due out this year, meaning she’ll need plenty of red-carpet outfits. “I’ve had tributes in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, South America and Germany,” said the Italian actress, who turns 75 this year. “I’m constantly living out of a suitcase.”
It was a rare outing for Thurman, who has been busy looking after daughter Luna. “My baby just turned six months and I’m taking my time to go back to work,” she explained at the Privé show, held at the nearby Théâtre National de Chaillot.
The break may be short-lived: Thurman confirmed that director Quentin Tarantino is working on “Kill Bill: Vol. 3,” the latest installment in the violent revenge saga in which she plays The Bride. It’s been eight years since the last one, but she is ready to train again for the physically demanding part. “It’s always good timing,” she smiled.
