The designer turned his attention away from the natural sciences to the technological ones in his rich and varied resort lineup.
Having explored the human brain for his fall collection, Christopher Kane turned his attention away from the natural sciences to the technological ones in his rich and varied resort lineup. Prints, laces, broderie anglaise and patterns were inspired by the long, intersecting lines of computer graphics from the Seventies and Eighties — the kind used to create 3-D images. Kane wove those lines into curving, lace flower embellishments on sleeveless shifts and sweatshirts, and worked lacy images of the human body into white cotton blouses. He also dipped into his fall 2010 archive for a trove of diamond buttons, large and small, used to decorate denim jackets and cocktail dresses in black or Pop Art colors. Also back from the archive was a body-con dress in black with thick bright red, blue and yellow stripes — like duct tape — wrapped around it.
