Issey Miyake Men's RTW Spring 2015

A tropical beach might seem like a hackneyed theme but Yusuke Takahashi breathed new life into the idea with his lineup for Issey Miyake Men.

A tropical beach might seem like a hackneyed theme for a spring collection, but Yusuke Takahashi breathed new life into the idea with his lineup for Issey Miyake Men. Shirts featured oversize prints of pineapples, bananas and flowers elaborated by craftsmen in Kyoto, Japan, using complex dyeing techniques.

Meanwhile, items ranging from suits to a hooded poncho came in subtle gradations of turquoise through indigo to deep inky blue. Elsewhere, Takahashi let loose with bold prints of water reflections and deep-sea creatures, but his subtler experiments were equally compelling — namely a rough fabric woven from linen and nylon blended with abacá and pineapple yarns.
